Being Hospitalized Finally Got me to Write Some Blogs 😂😂

I found myself hospitalized by surprise at the end of April, Reader.

After 2 sleepless nights, I woke up the Saturday before Easter with the vision in my left eye completely blurred out. Like there was something on the lens because I could see peripherally, but straight ahead looked like I'd put on my father's extra-strength prescription glasses.

Like a true millennial, I thought, "That's annoying," and proceeded to ignore it.

I went to Easter lunch on Sunday, I went about work as normal on Monday and Tuesday but it wasn't going away. So Wednesday when my father-in-law stopped by, I asked if he could get me into see someone (he was the village doctor for 40 years) and the man freaked out.

He took my temperature, my blood pressure, listened to my heartbeat and lungs. He was ready to call the hospital to try and get some X-rays done because, apparently, losing eyesight out of nowhere is a big deal, but when he talked to an optician friend, she said I needed to go straight to an ophthalmologist.

Colour me surprised when I drove an hour and a half the next day to see an ophthalmologist, and she told me that my optic nerve was completely swollen and had a lump on it, so I needed to go straight to neurology at the hospital, and they'd be keeping me for the weekend.

So that's how I ended up being admitted to the hospital an hour and a half from home with nothing but my phone and the clothes on my back.

Thankfully, my FIL brought a backpack my husband packed the next day with my laptop, clean underwear and headphones.

But I was in such a state of disassociation the whole weekend, I couldn't concentrate on books or movies so you know what I did? I wrote blog posts.

1000-word-long pieces of content repurposed from podcast transcripts I'd previously pulled. In a way, it was a mindless task because I had the main points written out and just needed to do a bit of keyword research, format, rewrite sections and get it set up on my blog. But it was such a soothing task because I could shut out the outside world (hospital noises) and focus on making sure the words on my screen made sense.

That's why I love the Remix as a summer investment. You've got so much going on already, though hopefully no hospital visits, that I want you to be able to sit down, create and get outside with no extra steps.
